The theme for this project was “Side Effect” and we were asked to produce an illustration which illustrate a form of side effects of our choice.

I used Macau as an example in this project. Macau is a small city locating near Hong Kong and it’s undergoing huge city development. Casinos and hotels were built and the cost of that would be the city’s own tradition and cultures. This then became the initial idea of this project. I imagined a monster- like machine consuming all the traditions and culture and what’s left at the end were just casinos and hotels. A rather simple illustration.
